Despite the current epidemiological situation, Eye of the Tiger Management and D&D Boxing will continue their conquest to the highest peaks as they present another boxing gala at the Holiday Inn in Cuernavaca thanks to the famous Commando formula broadcast on Punching Grace as of 6 p.m. ET on June 4th.
This card, presented by La Queen and Mise-O-Jeu, will be marked by the return to the ring of three crowd favorites, David Lemieux (42-4-0, 35 KOs), Simon Kean (19-1-0, 18 KOs) and Erik Bazinyan (25-0-0, 19 KOs). In addition, rising US stars Samuel Arnold III (1-0-0) as well as twin brothers Antonio Perez (pro debut) and Angel Perez (pro debut) will have their first fight under the aegis of both EOTTM and D&D Boxing.
“David, Erik and Simon are on the doorstep of world title fights. It is therefore crucial for us to keep them active with quality opponents. In addition, our association with D&D Boxing allows us to secure young talents such as the Perez twins and Samuel Arnold III. The latter are among the most coveted American prospects and we are fortunate to have them on our team. They are tigers who will bring strong emotions to boxing fans for many years to come,” said Eye of the Tiger Management’s president Camille Estephan.
Although his fight was called off on April 17, David Lemieux does not have to wait long before hitting the ropes again. He will have a good challenge to face as he faces tough Peruvian David Zegarra (34-4-0, 21 KOs)The latter is an established super middleweight who has faced several elite boxers in his division including Erik Bazinyan, Stefan Haertel, Shefat Isufi, and Lolenga Mock, among others. The one nicknamed “La Pantera” is equipped with good punching force and an offensive boxing style that can annoy the Laval native. Erik Bazinyan will face Scott Sigmon (35-14-1, 18 KOs) who gave a lot of trouble to none other than Roy Jones Jr., the double amateur world champion Matvey Korobov and ex-USBA middleweight champion Luis Arias. The two proteges of Marc Ramsay will therefore have to be cautious during their respective duels in order to continue their ascent.
“We are really happy have Erik Bazinyan back in action, who has always continued to work hard in the gym during the pandemic to keep him moving despite the fact that he has not fought in over a year. For David, the fight with Zegarra will be another opportunity to stay active, but also to prepare for the full resumption of action in the world of boxing which we hope will be soon”, explains the coach of both these pugilists, Marc Ramsay.
Simon Kean will face American Donald Haynesworth (16-5-1, 14 KOs) in a fight scheduled for 8 rounds. The latter is known for his aggressiveness and great power that he manages to generate with both hands. Originally from New York, the man known as “Mr. JBT “is ready to take on anyone, anytime. Never turning down a challenge, he has rubbed shoulders with many top boxers in his division including Bryant Jennings, Guido Viannello, Zhiley Zang and Mark Brown.
“I’m glad Simon is facing Haynesworth. It is a style of boxing that he must face and fight to take it to the next level. In his career, he has not seen many boxers with the “American” style. It will be a good test to see if he can apply what he does in the gym,” said Simon Kean’s coach Vincent Auclair.
The undercard will consist of Samuel Arnold III’s first bout with EOTTM and D&D Boxing. Arnold is the youngest boxer in Eye of the Tiger Management’s history to ever sign a professional contract. The man nicknamed “Squirm” is currently 17 years old and made his professional boxing debut at 16. Having won the title of national champion of the United States 7 times, he will try to remain undefeated in the professionals as he will face a more experienced boxer in Benito Aburto (2-3-0, 1 KOs). In addition, young twin brothers Angel and Antonio Perez will make their highly anticipated professional debut.
Eye of the Tiger Management (EOTTM) held the official weigh-in for the boxing gala presented by La Reine des Bières, Mise-O-Jeu and Videotron which will take place tomorrow, June 4, live on Punching Grace, Indigo and Fite Tv. This event will take place live from the Holiday Inn in Cuernavaca, Mexico, featuring the duels between David Lemieux and David Zegarra, Simon Kean against Donald Haynesworth jr. and Erik Bazinyan against Scott Sigmon brought to you by the famous Commando formula, which allows viewers an incomparable proximity to the action. David Lemieux was the first to step on the scales and appeared to be in excellent physical condition to register a weight of 167.2 lbs while his opponent, David Zegarra, posted an illegal weight of 169 lbs. He therefore had one hour to manage to lose the pound which could have forced him to give 20% of his purse to the Lemieux clan since the maximum weight to be respected in the super-middleweight division is 168 pounds. The Laval resident did not seem at all to appreciate the fault committed by his opponent and told him of his dissatisfaction during the face-to-face between the two pugilists. However, Zegarra was finally able to reach the 168-pound limit in regulation time, which was granted to him.
For his part, Simon Kean has posted a weight of 250 pounds, he who seems to have honed his technique and who wants to apply everything he has put into practice in the gym with his new trainer Vincent Auclair in the last year to win every round during his clash against the American colossus Donald Haynesworth jr. The latter rocks the scales at an impressive 291.4 pounds today. Erik Bazinyan also respected the weight limit as he registered a weight of 167.4 lbs in front of his rival who weighed in at 167 lbs. Bazinyan was in excellent physical shape and seemed focused on achieving his goal of securing the NABA and NABF super middleweight titles. However, his opponent Scott Sigmon says he is hungry and believes he has everything it takes to win this championship duel. The excellent technician, Martine Vallières, swung the scales at 125 pounds in front of her Mexican opponent, Maricruz Gomez, who posted a weight of 123.8 pounds.
Don’t miss a second of all the exciting fights on this boxing card where three EOTTM headliners will continue their conquest to the highest peaks of their division, tomorrow night in Mexico, live on Punching Grace, Indigo and Fite Tv as of 8:30 p.m.
